Happy 5th Birthday Colton!!

Colton turned 5 on Saturday!! He had a busy day. Our little town of Fishtail held its annual Fishtail Days with vendor booths, a petting zoo and a parade. Our boss has a really great 55 Ford pickup that we decorated with birthday signs and rode in the parade. Brian and Tylee took 4-wheelers up into the mountains the night before and filled coolers with snow. So, Brian and Tylee were in the cab, with me and the boys in the back throwing snow and using squirt guns on the crowd. Colton had a blast. (and the adults did too) Later that evening we had family and friends over for cake and ice cream. Colton had a great time playing basketball and baseball with the other kids. I made him a rocket birthday cake to go with his space theme. After everyone left I let the boys stay up as late as they could watching movies. They made it until midnight (which was WAY longer than dad made it!) He had a great party and was so excited to tell me that now he is 5...a whole handful!

Fishing

The ranch we work on has a stocked fishing pond behind our house so we have gone fishing a couple of times this summer. Dylan and Colton are both getting really good at fishing on their own now. I was helping Logan and he was a little unsure at first, but quickly figured out how to reel in the line. He caught his first fish a couple of weeks ago and was really excited about it. You can't really see that in the picture because he looks scared of it, but as long as it didn't wiggle by him he was ok.

Colton's 5 year pictures

Colton turns 5 on Saturday so I took his pictures yesterday. I can't believe he is getting so big already. He is so excited to be 5 because he can go to kindergarten next year. He is such a ham, as I was taking pictures he would make silly faces right as I took the picture. Here are some of the good pics of him though.

Great Grandpa Jim

My grandfather Jim (mom's dad), and his wife Jean came to visit last week. I haven't seen them for 2 years, so this was the first time Logan met them. He came right up to grandpa to be held even though he is sometimes shy with strangers.

Logan's first haircut

So I finally gave Logan his first haircut a couple of weeks ago. His hair is really fine but was getting long so I trimmed him up. He sat perfectly still through the whole ordeal and looks like such a big boy now.

Vacation to Columbia Falls

We took a quick 3 day trip to the northwest part of Montana at a resort in
Columbia Falls, near Flathead Lake. It was really beautiful up there. We left on Sunday at 6am and got there at about 2pm. They had a couple of swimming pools and a game room that we played in a lot. There was also an amusement park nearby where we played miniature golf. We left on Tuesday at 12:30 and got back home just before 8pm. So, it was a fast trip with a lot of car time, but we all had fun. It was a good break before we get busy with summer.

End of School

Yea!! School's out! Dylan had a track day last Thursday which was a lot of fun. He participated in every event and came home with a handful of ribbons so he was happy. His last day of school was Friday. He was actually a little sad to be leaving his teacher and friends but is better now. He did really well this year and we are so proud of him. He has really changed since he started the first grade. He is reading and doing math really well. He really enjoyed the science projects they did. One project was learning the life cycles of different creatures, so they got some frog eggs and got to watch them turn from tadpoles to frogs. He was so into it that we let him bring one home to keep. I have to say that I have spent quite a bit of time watching the little thing doing flips in his tank.

Colton finished with preschool as well. His little school had an end of the year picnic on Friday evening for the community of Nye. The kids performed a couple of songs and Colton received his graduation certificate....promoted to kindergarten. He is so excited, but said he will miss the kids and Miss Currie at the Nye School.
